Help Is Needed

Dear Friend:

The children of our small community need your help. After 50 years, the swimming pool can not be opened without major renovations. The efforts to bring the pool back to life will require both public and donated funds. Ever increasing expenses have eliminated the pool operating fund entirely. Despite this, the City has admirably committed $25,000 to the renovation project; however, more is needed to insure the future of this facility for many years to come.

Preliminary cost estimates for a new pool were thought to be 1.5 to 2 million dollars and likely out of reach of the community. Recent estimates indicate the pool can be thoroughly renovated for approximately $60,000. The renovations being considered are estimated to make the facility operational for decades to come.

Please take this opportunity to send your donation to the Save the Swimming Pool Fund at PO Box 53, c/o Economic Developer, Grant City, MO 64456. Your checks should be made payable to the Worth County Progress Organization your donations are tax deductible and a reciept can be provided upon your request. Thos donating amount of $100 or more will receive special recognition. This is also a wonderful chance to make memorial donations for special loved ones who may have been former residents, aldermen, original 1958 pool committee members, lifeguards, business owners or public benefactors.

In closing, small farm towns do not have many entertainment options for the kids who live there. We ask that you help us continue to provide such a facility that has been a big part of summer fun for the past half century by sending your generous support. Please do not delay—plans are to start as early as this July!

With gratitude,
Grant City Pool Renovation Committee
